2006-04-25 [Paz]: Most art theives are sad little people from sad little places that wish they could draw as well as the person they stole the image from :P That's what real art theives are. Other 'theives' are just people who think your image is 'cool' and decide it would be 'cool' to post it wherever they wish... which is 'uncool' XD At least some post 'I didn't make this!' yet they still post it >.> 

2006-04-25 [General Jelly Jiggler]: I was banned for "stealing" art when I first became a member... people complained about my empty house, so I found an image on the internet to "spruce it up"... I didn't even know there were any uploading art rules. The website also said that you could use the image, but nooo... *mutters*...

2006-04-25 [Paz]: That's partly because any member can take someones art and say they had permission when they don't :P I broke the UAR as well for the 'spruce up your house' reason but you can spruce up your house in many other ways :) Including photos, and free graphics from ET Graphics... I learned that the hard way >.<

I have never stolen anyone on the internet, but once I had a picture some one gave me and I made it into a card or something..I got praised for the picture, But it didn't feel as satisfactory as if it had been my own..though I did know a guy that stole art from elfwood and claimed them as his own...sorry of subject but just wanted to respond.

2006-04-25 [Paz]: I've heard some pretty nasty stories about art theft >.< Including one where someone went as far as to enter someone elses art in a magazine contest claiming it as their own. And I've even seen it all over art sites like DA and EW :P As Sunny said, all members here must learn sooner or later that the rules must be followed or you're not wanted... 

2006-04-25 [Ocean Soul]: But I think displaying another artist's work in your house/homepage because you like it is something entirely different than entering a contest with it. One is because you appreciate something/it makes you happy to look at it and show it around, and the other one is clearly about trying to earn some compliments/price/money with someone else's art.

2006-04-25 [Paz]: Indeed :) I honestly don't see the trouble with it if one has the artists permission to post it and/or give the proper credits. However, most people just take the image and randomly post it Oo. Still, it's hard to secure permission from the creators of certain cartoon characters so credit would always be good :P Contests are taking it too far, I agree... Why not enter your own work?! Even if it loses at least you tried and you're not humilated when the theft is discovered... 

2006-04-25 [dayah]: yeah...I think it should be okay to post other peoples art as long as they know and its okay with them...for your house and such but to sumit it else where..no this guy, I thoght was soo kool, cus he was a artist too, he sent me picturse and I was so excited..then I found out later, when I was browsing through elfwood, that they weren't his at all..ooh I was pissed...thats my story..
